WHAT IS CHAIR YOGA?

Chair Yoga is a form of yoga designed for people who have a difficult time getting up and down off of the floor or for those who have physical or chronic issues that keep them from doing a regular yoga practice from a mat. In our Chair Yoga Class, half of the class is done while sitting in a chair and the other half is done standing with support from a chair or wall. Participants need to be independent with walking. We move all parts of the body and focus on incorporating breathing and mind-focusing practices. Some benefits of doing chair yoga include:

*Increasing or maintaining balance and flexibility

*Improved muscle tone and strength

*Improved blood sugar levels

*Improved heart rate and blood pressure

*Improved mood

*Improved concentration and focus
